Teach the 2nd verse to The Lord Gave Me a Temple with only using the board and something to draw with!!  It’s a simple and engaging lesson plan the entire primary will enjoy!

If you need help teaching the first verse, you can find my lesson plan HERE.

Before Primary, write the 2nd verse on the chalk board but only use about 1/3 of the top.

Sr. Primary you’ll be playing a form of Pictionary. Choose a child to come and choose a word off the chalkboard to draw. Make sure they don’t say it out loud.

As the Primary sings the verse, the child draws a picture their chosen word on the board. If children singing know what is being drawn, they can raise their hand.

Once you finish singing the verse, have the Primary guess which word the child drew. Once guessed, erase the picture and the word that was drawn.

Repeat with a new child and a new word until most of the words are erased and the song is learned!

For Jr. Primary, draw out the verse in pictures. Sing a line then ask what can be drawn. For instance, the first line of the 2nd verse reads “If I keep my body clean and pure and habit free,” You could draw a body, a hand with a rag cleaning for “clean” and a cigarette crossed out for “habit free”. Then sing the line using the pictures.

Gradually add on until the whole song is on the board in pictures.  Time permitting, do the same activity with the 1st verse.

Love this idea! I'm definitely going to be using this one. My junior and senior is combined but I think the little kids will be able to do it too with a few suggestions and help. Thanks again!
