Camille's Primary Ideas: March Singing Time Schedule

I’m switching when I teach March and April songs.  I always pick my April song to coincide with what we’ll be singing in Sacrament for Easter Sunday.  Well, since Easter is the 31st of March, we’ll be learning April’s song in March and March’s song in April (if that isn’t confusing enough!).  I did it last year and it worked like a charm.

But I do have a plan for teaching If the Savior Stood Beside Me if that’s what you are teaching in March.  Last year Sara posted an AWESOME video for teaching simplified sign language to As A Child of God (find information on it HERE).  I loved it so much that I asked if she’d do another video for If the Savior Stood Beside Me.   She’s so amazing and did it – thank you, thank you Sara!  You can find the video posted HERE.  I’ll elaborate more on the details next month when I teach it.

Our choir conductor also asked if the Primary could sing the song Hosanna in addition to This is My Beloved Son on Easter.  So for most of the month we’ll be focusing on these 2 songs.

And since there are 5 Sundays this month, I’ve asked for the whole time the last week in March (they graciously agreed ;).  It will be perfect, since we have Primary before Sacrament Meeting, we’ll quickly run through our 2 musical numbers then do a “General Conference” themed singing time that I do every year before the April General Conference (you can find that HERE and I’ll post about it later on in the month).

Phew…it’s a lot but since we’re starting early, no need to panic!

  1. Love how organized you are! I was thinking that "My Heavenly Father Loves Me" might be an okay song to sing on Easter Sunday? Is that a cop-out? 🙂

    1. I don't think so at all…nothing worse than trying to learn the program song of the month in addition to songs to sing in Sacrament meeting. That's why I specifically pick April's song to coincide with Easter. And I always keep Mother's Day and Father's Day simple – familiar songs right out of the songbook that we learned/practiced in one singing time. No need to kill ourselves ;).

  2. I'm glad you find the ASL videos helpful! Thanks for sharing your talents with your blog. I'm seriously indebted to all of you that blog your ideas. My primary presidency thinks I am much better than I am. I always tell them I just steal ideas from others! 🙂
