I’m teaching the song Fathers (page 209) for our Sacrament Meeting musical number. I’ve pooled several ideas together and I hope I can give credit where credit is due (and thank you Choristers Facebook Group for all your input!!).
Items needed:
- Chalk and eraser
- Song on CD (Disc 4 #36) and a CD player (optional)
- Flip chart pages HERE printed on card stock and placed in sheet protectors (the original source to the flip chart is HERE which includes the chorus – mine does not)
- tape or magnets
- Props: sunglasses; helmet and/or shin guards, kneepads, etc; flashlight; conductor stick (I’m using a wooden dowel); and a “Special” badge (download using my access button at the bottom of this post) printed on yellow paper or card stock and laminated; and a clothes pin
Here’s my lesson plan (download the document using the button at the bottom of this post):
The Attention-Getter idea is from A Children’s Songbook Companion. Below is a visual of how to present it on the chalkboard:
(before)
(after, ready for flip chart pages)
You can download these documents using my access button below if you like.
editor’s note: I don’t use flip charts often but I did like this sister’s work and choice of pictures, especially for the 3rd verse. It helps that I am not teaching this song entirely with them but using props as well.
You can go HERE and see all the Father’s Day posts I have posted if you are in need of more ideas.
Check out this quick tutorial video for accessing the Resource Library:
These printables are filed on my Resource Library page under Song Title > Fathers.

What is the facebook group called? I just tried to find it, the Choristers Facebook Group and I couldn't find it. I would love to join this! Thanks for all you post every week, it's always so helpful!!!
Camille, I was searching around last week and found a post with a drawing of Dad and then interchangeable ties that have different songs listed on the back. I could have sworn this was you but now I can't find it. Do you have any idea who this might have been? Any help would be great. Thanks
Hi Heather,
Sorry, it's not me and I haven't seen it. If I do, I'll leave another comment.

You're such a lifesaver Camille! I've been wracking my brain for weeks trying to figure out how to make this song fun to learn/teach. Thank you!
