Families Can Be Together Forever

Surprise, surprise…I’m going super simple again this week.  So simple in fact, that I’m going to have the Senior Primary do all of the teaching!  I’m so excited!

I divided the whole song (chorus only once and the 2nd verse) into 6 sections:

  1. I have a family here on earth, they are so good to me.
  2. I want to share my life with them through all eternity.
  3. Families can be together forever through Heavenly Father’s plan.
  4. I always want to be with my own family, and the Lord has shown me how I can (repeat).
  5. While I am in my early years, I’ll prepare so carefully.
  6. So I can marry in God’s temple for eternity.
Then I wrote each section of the song on the bottom of 6 pieces (1/2 yard each) of white butcher paper using a black sharpie marker.  I also numbered each one in the corner 1 – 6.

For Senior Primary I’ll divide the kids into 6 groups and have them sit on the floor in various locations around the room.  Each group will receive a piece of butcher paper and a handful of markers.  Their job will be to draw a picture of their sentence and then present it to the rest of the primary.

I’ll give them about 10 minutes to work on their pictures.  As they work I’ll play the song on CD in the background.

After the 10 minutes is up, each group will come up one at a time, in order and present their picture to the rest of the Primary.  Each group will get about 5 minutes (2 groups will go this week and then the other 4 will finish next week).  We’ll then sing each line together and gradually add on as each group presents their pictures.  I’ll hang each picture in the front of the room using tape.

For Junior Primary I will simply present the Senior Primary’s pictures one at a time and talk about what they drew and then we’ll sing each line.  For Junior I’m hoping to get through 4 of the pictures (taking 5 minutes with each) and then next week I’ll present the last 2.  If I can time everything out, I’ll have 10 remaining minutes in Junior Primary next week.   So I made this coloring sheet (words of the song are on the bottom) for them to color (using crayons) as they listen to the song on CD.  They can simply draw a picture of their family.
