I had to jump on the band wagon and give these Position Cards (which are also known as Primary Yoga) a try! They provide some fun(ny!) movement for the kids as you review lots of songs!
Thanks Jeri for the original idea you posted on Facebook (you can find it HERE – this link also includes a document that Emily created which is similar to what I have made below – I mostly wanted them on half size sheets of paper).
You can download my Position Cards/Primary Yoga cards using the access button at the bottom of this post. (Jeri’s look hand-drawn which wouldn’t be too hard either!). I printed mine on white card stock, cut them in half and laminated them. I may punch a hole in the corner and put them on a ring for easy flipping, but totally optional.
UPDATE: I made 12 more position cards HERE so be sure to check them out!!
To use them, Jeri says, “Basically you hold up the card and the kids mimic the position while they sing.” Sounds pretty easy to me! Can’t wait to give them a try!! I’ll probably switch out cards every few lines of the songs. We’ll be reviewing all of our January – May 2014 program songs (emphasizing He Sent His Son & I Will Follow God’s Plan as it’s been a while for these two).
It was also suggested to move on to the next position card when everyone is in place and singing ;).
Another idea is to assign each word a position so when that song is sung, everyone has to move quickly into that pose. Fun!
These printables are filed on my Resource Library page under Category Title > Position Cards (aka Primary Yoga).

Beautiful!
Love this idea! Especially for junior primary.
Love it! What did you use to make them? I have a couple more in mind I want to make and I'm a little OCD and really "need" them to look the same as these that I've downloaded. 😉
Thanks Rebecca! I use a software called MDS. I'd totally love to make more! When I used them I wished I had almost double the amount but ran out of ideas! If you could somehow send me the positions, I'll totally make more and get them posted. Maybe email me via my "contact tab" above and we can be in touch that way. I'll try to work on it this week.

I’m trying to print the primary yoga cards, but can’t for some reason. Any suggestions?
Hi Dorothy!
I’ve emailed you the link. Make sure you are logged in to a gmail/Google account too.

Can you email them to me too. Love the idea!
Hi Cindy!
The easiest way to access these is through my Resource Library. They are filed on my Resource Library under Category Title > Position cards.

What a fun idea! Can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much! I love these and can't wait to use them in Singing Time and with the Nursery!!!!
I'm using these today! Thank you so much! Such a quick and easy motion activity that you can apply to any song!
This is definitely a new favorite. Did it today for the first time and we were all having a blast. The one where you have to link arms with someone else is especially hilarious to be standing and watching from the front. Thanks so much for this post, Camille! Steph
Hoping this works with my combined Primary as a movement (wiggle) song! My plan is to use these with the Books of the OT, and change positions after every five or so books. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for these! I used them in Primary Olympics. I just posted about it and linked back to this post… I wanted you to know and make sure that was ok with you! Thanks again for sharing your talents! 🙂

Anytime! Thank you!!

I love these!!! I used them when I was a chorister and now I use them to get wiggles out before sharing time!! Thank you for sharing your brilliance!
My combined primary LOVES these! I have a child come to the front and pick from the stack of positions and I assign it to a word in the song. Every time we sing through the song I add another position assigned to a different word. It is a great, fun way to sing a song over and over without the kids getting bored! It’s also funny to see everyone scramble from position to position when you start stacking more than 3 cards!
Hi Crystal!
What a fun idea! I totally love it!! Thank you for sharing, I’ll have to use it!
