2015 Sing-Along Videos (aka Program Showcase)

This Sunday I’m planning on presenting all the 2015 Program songs using the Sing-Along Video Flip Charts that were posted on the LDS Facebook Chorister’s Group by Amy (a HUGE thank you for saving us all SO much work!!).  You can find them all HERE**.  My 2 “Your Choice” songs are even included in the videos – how’s that for luck?  The video flip charts my primary will be viewing are:

  • January: I Know that My Savior Loves Me, 2015 outline p. 28
  • February: He Sent His Son p. 34
  • March: Follow the Prophet p. 110
  • April: The Church of Jesus Christ p. 77
  • May: Faith p. 96
  • June:  The Holy Ghost p. 105
  • July:  Come, Follow Me hymn #116
  • August:  Tell Me the Stories of Jesus p. 57
I downloaded each of these videos onto my computer and then loaded them onto my iPod via iTunes.  I have a cable (it’s a 32-pin apple port to RCA – I have the older, wide port iPod connector) that I’ll run from my iPod to the library’s TV to view each of these videos.  Hopefully it works!!

Now, not techy? No problem.  {Honestly, neither am I – so thanks hubby!!}  You can download and print flip charts for each of these songs from jollyjenn.com and simply bring the songs on CD (if you made a 2015 Primary Program Songs CD, your life will be that much easier! Find details on my CD HERE).  I’d suggest placing each flip chart in plastic sheet protectors and putting them in a binder for easy flipping.  It may be a lot of flip charts but if you plan on using them later in the year, you’ll be saving yourself work later on, right?  You could also ask various ward members to come in and do a musical performance of the songs!

**UPDATE:  Thanks to the techy husband, these are available as an mp4 version (as opposed to the wmv version posted in the link above).  If you will be viewing these using iTunes or iPod/iPad/iPhone (like me), you will need them in this format.  Find the mp4 format HERE.

***And an UPDATE to the UPDATE: I had to re-upload 2 files, I Know That My Savior Loves Me and Follow the Prophet so they were a different size, my iPod didn’t like their original size.  So if you had problems like I did with these 2 files, try them again.  Sorry…there always seem to be technical glitches with stuff like this!!

To break up each song, I created this simple worksheet for the kids to fill out after we watch each video:

You can download the document using the access button at the bottom of this post.

I created another document you can download with songs #5 and #8 left blank so you can write in your own song in case they are different than what I have (if you want to type up your 2 songs so they match the rest of the list, I used the Cambria font, size 24, right justified – then {quite literally} cut and paste your own in the spaces provided!).

I also have a completely blank one that you can fill in all the songs any way you like!

I know that the little Jr. kiddos won’t understand most of the worksheet but at least they will have something to color while we watch our videos ;).

So, pass out a coloring utensil to all the kids, along with a worksheet and push “play.”  I’m going to encourage the kids to sing along as much as they can and if there are songs they don’t know, they can go home and listen to their CD’s that were given at Christmas.  If you really want to go the extra mile, bring a movie treat!

It should be a fun and simple way to introduce all the program songs for 2015 (as long as we don’t have any technical difficulties)!

    1. Let's try this again…dang phone – I can't type very well on it!

I think I am going to go over all of them the month I teach it, obviously they won't be memorized, but we'll sing them. Then for the program maybe I'll have kids sing solos or in small groups…but I haven't gotten that far yet :-).
