I was gathering {no pun intended!} ideas for teaching I Often Go Walking in singing time for Mother’s Day. This is what I collected in the process…

Coloring Sheets

(This one is best for Jr. Primary.)

(This one is best for Sr. Primary.)

I Often Go Walking Pictures
Then you need each of these pictures that represent each phrase found in the song (or you can draw your own):

Print on card stock and cut out. Or send the JPEG files to a photo lab, print as 5×7’s and laminate (optional).
Singing Time Idea
Play I Often Go Walking on your phone + speakers or have you and the teachers sing with the piano. Post the words like I do HERE.

Pass out a coloring sheet to each child along with coloring utensils. Have them color as they listen to the song, most likely multiple times.
As the children color, draw a similar grid on the board. When they have finished coloring, go over each phrase on their worksheet while adding the printed images to each grid (or draw your own images in each square).
Also have Sr. Primary fill in the blanks on their worksheet.
Children can also share the pictures they drew with the rest of the Primary. Afterward, they can take their pictures to their mothers as a simple gift.
Handbell Chart
Time permitting, pull out handbells and play I Often Go Walking using the chords! Find more details on this chart HERE.

I fixed it on mine, but just a heads up that the first verse phrase is "I gather the blossoms the whole meadow over" (you have clover)
Thanks for sharing all this with us!!! You are amazing!
Thank you! I've corrected it.
