Mr. Potato Head Review

This review will work with ANY song(s).  Great for a 5th Sunday singing time if you’ve got the entire time!  This week I’ll be using it to review the 4 program songs we’ve learned so far this year in addition to some wiggle songs and maybe our Mother’s Day song (to introduce it).

I found this idea from the Chorister’s Facebook group HERE and the files HERE.  Thank you for sharing!!

The shared Facebook files are to be printed as 20×30 JPEG photos at Costco.  I’ve uploaded them to my Resource Library in case you aren’t on Facebook.  You can access that using the button at the bottom of this post.

I took the shared files and resized all the images so they are a little smaller (about half the size as the ones pictured) in order to print at home.  Find all my documents using my access Resource Library button as well.  I’ve left them as individual pages so you can print what you like.

I’d recommend printing on white card stock, cutting out, laminating (for durability) then attaching magnetic tape to the back of each piece like this found on Amazon:

Here’s how to use it in primary:

Draw an outline of a potato head on the chalkboard using chalk.  Place the pieces off to the side of the chalkboard like pictured above.  Post the following rules on the chalkboard:

  1. EYES: Pick someone who followed you
  2. NOSE: Pick someone who got all the words right
  3. MOUTH: Pick someone singing in their best voice
  4. EARS: Pick someone singing loudly but not louder than lovely
  5. HAIR/HAT: Pick someone not looking at the words
  6. ACCESSORIES (INCLUDING FEET): Pick someone who is reverently singing
Watch for kids who are participating the best in each category (or I’d recommend assigning up to 6 teachers/presidency a number!).  Sing a verse of your song, have 6 chosen kids come up and create a Mr. Potato head with their assignment.  So if a teacher who is watching for #1 – “eyes” picks a child, they come up and pick some eyes to put on the potato head, etc.

Take the pieces off and repeat with new songs or verses and kids until all the kids have had a turn to put a piece on the chalkboard and the songs have been reviewed!

  1. Thank you, Camille! This is fabulous as always! And you saved me! I didn't know what to do to review our Mothers Day Song Tomorrow. I think my primary will love this!
