Find my most current Primary Music CD HERE.
Every year for Christmas, our primary hands out a primary music CD as our Christmas gift. In year’s past, it has contained all of next year’s program songs plus an extra 2 songs for each month (36 songs total – 3 songs per month). With the new 2019 curriculum, my job has been made a little easier as 36 songs are already suggested for next year
(find more information on Music for Singing Time 2019 HERE).
If you feel CD’s are a thing of the past, I’ve seen other primaries create digital playlists and email them out to families (creating YouTube playlists like this one HERE (thank you Don-Eva for sharing!) or a Google Drive folder that contains all the songs to download, to name a few ways). If you’ve done that for your primary, please feel free to share the details on how you did it! My preference is a CD – simply because it’s a more tangible gift. A great idea is to suggest to families is to put the CD in their cars as most vehicles still have a CD player and a captive audience ;).
Another option instead of doing a CD is a DVD (or a YouTube playlist of videos). They would be similar to the lesson I did HERE for our 2018 Sing-Along Videos, but using 2019 video flip charts. I’ll have those video flip charts ready in January – I’m hoping some helpful choristers out there help me out with those like they have done in the past!!
To start, I created a document that contained all the songs I’d like to teach in singing time next year. You can find my list HERE. I submitted it to my primary president to get everything approved. But for easy viewing, below is my song list:

Once approved, I created a playlist using iTunes with these songs. I own all the Primary Songs on CD which I’ve uploaded to iTunes. But if you don’t own the CD, you can download all the songs in the Primary Songbook HERE. Hymns can be downloaded HERE. I had a hard time finding a few Hymns but I eventually found them here:
I bought these CD-R’s and jewel cases from Amazon:
(note, these aren’t the cheapest that Amazon sells but I prefer the Sony brand compared to the no-name. For some reason, it makes for easier burning and I have less “non-usable” cd’s – just my experience!)
Then I started burning {a million} CD’s! Once burned, I simply took a Sharpie marker and wrote “2019 Primary Songs” on the actual CD. I did take a few random CD’s and put them in my CD player to make sure they burned correctly.
We give one CD per primary family. For our Primary it’s about 30 so I’ve burned 35 to have as a few extras to keep in the cupboard just in case we have move-ins, someone loses theirs, or sometimes a few families ask if they can have another copy, etc.
For a 2019 Primary Music CD cover, I created this…
I have 2 options for for the cover. One without the song list (just in case your songs are different than mine). To use the blank one, I suggest typing up a list that looks similar to mine (the font I used it just Times New Roman, font size 8), trimming your list so it will fit within the blank square space and taping it on. When you make photo copies, you will never know that you literally copied and pasted.
I do like the black and white cover only because I can make free copies at the library. I also tell the kids they are welcome to color their CD cover to make it more personalized. The artwork I chose is from LDS.org found HERE.
Once I have my copies made, I cut around on the black lines with the exception of down the middle. I fold it there and simply slide it into the cd jewel case. The size, once cut out, measures 5 inches and 5.5 centimeters both across and down, making it a perfect square.
I then tie on Christmas ribbon and attach a treat of some sort for each child (we’ve done ring pops, tootsie roll suckers and Now & Laters, etc.). A family with 4 nursery/primary aged kids would receive one CD tied with 4 treats. I also attach a tag (signed by our ward’s primary name in the space provided):
I’ve made lots of Christmas tags in previous years that I’ll be reusing this year:
Cut out, hole punch the top, slide it onto a ribbon and tie. Our primary president has offered to package them so I don’t have photos of the finished product this year. But here are a few from past years:
We will hand these out the 2 Sundays before Christmas (since we won’t have primary on the 23rd) and deliver them to the kids who are not/less active.
Check out this quick tutorial video for accessing the Resource Library:
These printables are filed on my Resource Library page under Category Title > CD > 2019.

Hi Camille! Any chance you could put a link so we could print those tags?! I love them and would love to use them as well! Thank you for all you do! You've helped and enriched my singing time so much! Merry Christmas!
Hi B and J,
I just changed to a direct download so you won't have to search through all my previous posts to get them. Hope that helps.

Camille-
I always love all of you stuff! You have been such a lifesaver many times for me. I am having trouble downloading the CD cover document with the song titles on it. The blank one is downloading but the other one with the songs is not. Any chance something is wrong? I've tried on a couple different computers too and search engines and nothing. Thanks so much for your help!
Jana
Hi Jana,
Thank you for letting me know – it wasn't working for me either. Not sure what was wrong but I think I've fixed it. If you still have trouble, please let me know!

You did!!! Thank you so much!! I am excited to make these for my Primary kids!
I have been filling in for our ward's chorister a few times since she moved away and because there isn't new one called yet. Your blog and posts have been a lifesaver! Thank you so much! I just noticed that your 2019 CD has "When I am Baptized" listed for August and December (2 months). Is that on purpose?
I also wanted to say I personally love having the cds for the car ride. I feel like my kids learn the songs better that way. Thanks again for all you do!
Hi Unknown,
My CD list matches what is in the suggested songs for 2019 music curriculum. I noticed there were 2 duplicates, When I am Baptized in August and December and A Child's Prayer in January and September. I just decided to keep it all as-is. But you could easily swap out those songs for something similar.

Hi, I love your site. I went in an downloaded all the 2019 songs on ITunes. I hit burn but when I went to play it is an empty disk. I saw something about allowing plug-in from LDS.org but I cant find it and need additional help to burn my CD Thanks, Carol
Hi Carol,
Sorry you are having trouble. I'm not an IT expert so unfortunately I don't know how to help you. I would maybe try burning on a different brand of CD. I have had (cheap) CD's not work if they weren't name brand. I don't know that plug-in's from lds.org would help anything but I really have no idea.
Sorry I'm not more help.
