2019 Primary Flashcards

I’m pulling out my annual Primary Flashcards that I’ve done every year around this time.  I’ve just updated all the information to reflect changes made in primary for 2019!  It’s been a lot of fun for both Senior and (a simplified version) for Junior.
Here’s how to use the flashcards in primary:
For Senior, divide the primary into 2 teams.  If you have a large primary, divide into more.  Give each team a bell (I just use 2 of my handbells but any bells will do).  Shuffle the cards, draw the first one and face it to the teams.  The first team to ring their bell with the correct answer wins that card.  If the answer is incorrect, the next team to ring the bell gets to answer and possibly win, etc.
For Junior, there will be no teams and no bells.  I’ll pull the first card and read the mad gab to them it together.  Then I will call on good singers to come speak the scripture into the microphone (with help if need be).
Here’s the activity you do with each card:
Monthly Song Cards:  They are the Mad Gab/Mumbles cards. The kids will have to figure out which song it is.  When it’s been guessed, sing the song.
Monthly Scripture Cards:  For Senior Primary, it is a scripture chase.  The kids have to find the scripture passage in the scriptures and read it (you may need to get a few sets of scriptures from the library).  I went through the Come Follow Me-Primary manual and simply picked a week during each month that matched the closest with the song we learned that month.
What’s great about this is it is a great premise to building your primary program that’s coming up in just a few months!  Assign kids or classes a scripture and you can write correlating speaking parts or let them write their own.
If you are short on time, I’d omit all the Monthly Scripture Cards.  The Mad Gab/Mumbles make a great activity on their own too!
Here’s a quick view of all the cards I’ll be using:
The document goes through September in case you want to use it later but I’ll only be using the cards through June.  I also created song cards with all the other suggested songs so you can print what you need.  I didn’t, however, create scripture cards that relate more specifically to these songs so if you want a different scripture, you are on your own.
If you have chosen songs that are not the suggested songs for 2019, I found most of the Mad Gab/Mumbles songs from the Chorister’s Facebook post HERE and just slightly altered a few.  I’ve got a direct link to that document as well if you are not a member of the group.  The font I used is KG Strawberry Limeade in case you want to try to edit your own but simply handwriting it in will work great.
If you need some Mumbles/Mad Gabs for songs that are not listed, I did a search on the Chorister’s FB Group HERE for “Mad Gabs Mumbles” that brought up LOTS of random songs that others needed help with.  If you still can’t find what you need, I’d suggest posting directly on the FB Choristers group – you’ll get some amazing answers as I’m really not that clever to come up with them on my own!  Then if you find some good ones, leave a comment here to help others out.
Here are a few other mad gabs/mumbles for other popular songs that have been taught this year::
  • Whenever I have to Choose –  ben heather tie bath two clues
  • Gethsemane – get some money
  • Choose Him Again – Chew swim egg hen
