December in singing time is going to be full of singing and {MY FAVORITE} ringing!!  Check out below what I’ve got planned for singing time this month!

Camille's Primary Ideas: December singing time schedule

My singing time lesson plans for December will include handbells EVERY Sunday this month.  If you don’t have a set of handbells and want to follow along with my schedule, make sure to order a set for your primary (more details can be found HERE).

Camille's Primary Ideas: Merry Bells

I LOVE using the handbells around this time of year!  We also sing in sacrament meeting on Christmas Sunday (the Sunday before Christmas) and use the bells when we perform.  If you plan on doing that too, make sure to get your bishop’s approval.

If they’re not approved for sacrament meeting, don’t let that deter you!  Just use them in singing time (make sure to drag the bishop in occasionally ;).  I’ll be pulling them out several times during the year as well so still worth the investment!

A great singing time idea for primary - a singing time schedule

I’ve also been asked about a 2020 Singing Time Planner – you can find my post with more details HERE

I’ve also been asked about my Interactive Bookshelf for the Book of Mormon – you can now find that HERE

Camille's Primary Ideas: The Books in the Book of Mormon Interactive Bookshelf

Beginning next year in January, I will be using my singing time planners exclusively!  I’ve finally come around to using my own materials – ha!  The Word document with my singing time schedule will be discontinued.

I’m also hoping to streamline a little better how I handle the transition period too (we like to sing during that time!).  More to come so stay tuned!

Now on to business!  See how I use my singing time schedule HERE!  Then download an editable and printable version of the below information HERE or use my December 2019 Singing Time Planner found HERE.

My Heavenly Father Loves Me is a December song suggestion.  You can find my lesson plan HERE.  I will be teaching a modified version of this lesson plan to leave time to sing Christmas songs.

You can find my lesson plan for When I Am Baptized HERE.  I’ve said this time and time again – this is one of my very FAVORITE singing time lesson plans!  However, since we recently sang this in August, I will be omitting it this month.

Singing Time Schedule

December 2019

December 1st:

Welcome Song: Mary’s Lullaby p. 44

Opening Song: The Books in the New Testament p. 116

Lesson Song: My Heavenly Father Loves Me & p. 228 Christmas Bells p. 54

Activity: I’ll pull out the visuals to My Heavenly Father Loves Me found HERE and we’ll sing it through once as I reveal the images and the words posted.  That should leave plenty of time to play Christmas Bells on the handbells found HERE.  We’ll be using the chart for the obligato but the melody chart works great too!

December 8th:

Welcome Song: Stars Were Gleaming p. 37

Opening Song: The Books in the New Testament p. 116

Lesson Song: Choose the Right Way p. 160, Oh, Hush Thee, My Baby p. 48

Activity: I’ll use my brief lesson plan for Choose the Right Way found HERE, leaving enough time to learn Oh, Hush Thee, My Baby.  Find that lesson plan HEREMy thought is to have sr. primary boys learn the alto (changed my mind!) then have the bells play the optional “ostinato” played throughout the verse (see the end of the music in the songbook) and chords on chorus.  We’ll work on the bells next week.

Activity: I found a 12 Songs of Christmas idea from The Friend that I turned into a singing time lesson plan last year.  Since I never used it, I’ll be using it this year!  Find details HERE.  Any songs that I have a handbell chart or actions (like When Joseph Went to Bethlehem), we’ll be using the bells or the actions!

  1. I’ve used and appreciated your blog for years, but I have to say, this new format is really difficult to use. I know I’ve signed up and it tells me so when I put my info in again, but I just can’t figure out how to actually find the info. I’m sure you have your reasons for doing it this way, but just wanted to add my two cents as a reader. It’s a lot easier to just click a link in the post, rather than the post saying that something is available, you just have to go jump through a bunch of hoops to actually find and use it.

    1. Hi Emily,

I really appreciate the feedback. I understand change is always a difficult in the beginning but I’m hopeful it will get easier the more it’s used. This new format is a lot easier for me to control what content I put out there and who is accessing it. I’m trying to keep my content free, otherwise my option is to start charging for it, which I don’t want to do. If you have any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly and I will email you anything you need anytime.

Thanks for still being a great reader!

      ~Camille

    Hi Camille,

Like Emily, I appreciate everything you create and share. Your efforts bless the lives of so many of us! Also, like Emily, I cannot easily find the lesson plans for each week. Am I supposed to put in my email address every week to access the information from the website? I like to plan ahead, sometimes for a whole month or more, and although I know you have been sending me a weekly email containing the lesson plan options for that week, it feels too late. Is it possible to set up your new site so people create a login that they can use? This would allow you to collect the contact info from everyone but also allow complete access to your site too.

Thanks again for sharing your marvelous gifts of teaching gospel truths through creative music activities.

    1. Hi Jennifer!

Thank you also for the feedback! You should only have to ever enter your email once to gain access to my Resource Library and current Singing Time Schedule. But they are not available to access directly from my website anymore, only through email. So once you get the email with the links to my library and schedule, you’ll either want to bookmark those 2 links in your web browser or save the email.

With your suggestion, however, I’ve updated my weekly email that goes out to include direct links to my Resource Library and Singing Time Schedule (at the top of the email so they aren’t missed). I hoping that helps lessen confusion.

Then I may also send out a direct email when I’ve updated the singing time schedule for the the upcoming month so everyone has that in time to plan ahead.

I’m still learning what’s best with all these changes so I really appreciate everyone being patient and kind with my process. It will take a little time to get it fine-tuned.

      ~Camille

  3. I used to get your ideas each week. I also know that I have signed up a number of times as I cannot get to the information that I am looking for. For example, I cannot locate the December schedule. Is there an easy way to find this information?

  4. I agree with everyone that has posted. It’s so difficult to find your lesson plans. I click on every email you send, but I just want to see your plan for December. I love everything you put out and I have used it for a while, but the new format is hard to navigate.

    1. Hi Vanessa,

I really do appreciate the feedback. I’ve emailed you a little more information if that helps. I’ve also updated my weekly emails to include links at the top of the emails that take you directly to my Resource Library and Singing Time Schedule. I’m hoping this makes it a little less hard to navigate. Before, you had to dig through all my old posts to find it so hopefully with it being sent right to your inbox each week, it will be easier. I’m still working on the bugs with this whole change and I really appreciate your patience and kindness with all of it.

      ~Camille

  5. Camille, I was looking at the posted time for your last comment–I hope you weren’t up at 3:11am this morning.
Anyway, I too am having the hardest time accessing things on your website. I have signed up a couple of times, (I didn’t know you were sending out emails), I have none of your info in the spam folder and you even sent me a link and I still cannot even get your December schedule. Please help!! I LOVE your ideas, helps, suggestions, EVERYTHING. Please help me organize my primary.

    1. Hi Kathy,

No, the times must be off…I guess I need to figure out how to make it the right time ;). I’ll email you the information you need.

      ~Camille
