This Sunday in singing time I’ll be incorporating one of the song suggestions for December AND a little Christmas in my lesson plan! December’s song suggestion from Music for Singing Time 2019 that I’ll be focusing on is My Heavenly Father Loves Me. Then we’ll be using the handbells as we sing Christmas Bells. Easy – perfect for a holiday weekend!

I’ll start out with using the visuals for My Heavenly Father Loves Me that I used HERE when we learned the song the last time I taught it. It’s a great lesson plan if you want to only teach that to your primary this week! We’ll simply sing the song as I hold up each image that correlates with the phrase. I may ask the kids if there’s anything they’ve learned at home in Come Follow Me that relates to the song that they’d like to share.

Then if you want to see all of my Christmas lesson plans for more ideas, you can scroll through those HERE. We’ll be singing Christmas Bells and Oh, Hush Thee, My Baby in sacrament meeting on Christmas Sunday (lesson plan coming next week).

You can see what I’ve got planned for the rest of the December by going to my current singing time schedule page for those who have already joined my website. If you haven’t joined yet and want access, you can join below and it will be emailed to you.

The printables I reference above are filed on my Resource Library page under song title > My Heavenly Father Loves Me & Christmas Bells.

Is it normal that I have to “join” every time I click on your resource library button, or am I doing something wrong? By the way, I love your ideas and they have made my calling so much easier. Thank you so much!
Hi Jill,
Yes, this is normal. You can’t access it from my website. Once you join, you are emailed the link. You will need to go to your email to access the Resource Library. Once you have the Resource Library link, save it in your web browser or save the email. I hope that helps.

Hi! Our ward has chimes but not bells. Do you feel like there is a significant sound difference (for sacrament meeting performances, etc) with the bells, or do you think just using the chimes would be fine? I’ve never used bells, so I’m not as familiar. Thanks!
Hi Kristen!
If you have the option, I always suggest you go with handbells. The sound quality is better and they are easier for the kids to handle. That said, if you only have the budget for the chimes, they will always suffice! Either way, the congregation will love them!
