Camille's Primary Ideas: Easter Hosanna Home Centered Singing Time lesson plan idea

You can find my original lesson plan HERE for Easter Hosanna if you like. I’ve taken my original singing time lesson plan catered for primary and turned it into a home centered singing time!

If you are viewing this singing time lesson plan at home with your family, simply watch the video below, then answer the questions after you’ve watched the video.  If you aren’t able to answer the questions, re-watch the video and try again!  Count how many times you watch the video in order to answer all the questions correctly!

Easter Hosanna Questions:

(the answers are farther below so you don’t see them right away!)

Chorus:
  1. What words did the Nephites cry as they rejoiced?
  2. Notice the second half of the chorus is the same tune as the first half, except for one word.  Which word is it?
Verse One:
  1. Find a word that means that the prophecies came to pass or happened.
  2. Is the melody of the second phrase the same or different as the first?
  3. Find two words that describe how Jesus looked.
Verse Two:
  1. Jesus Christ appeared to the Nephites on the American continent.  What is another name in this song for the American continent?
  2. What did the righteous people see?
  3. What did they come to understand?
  4. What are three other names for Jesus Christ?
  5. The Nephites rejoiced.  Now who else rejoices?

Answers:

Chorus:
  1. What words did the Nephites cry as they rejoiced? [Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God!]
  2. Notice the second half of the chorus is the same tune as the first half, except for one word.  Which word is it? [High]
Verse One:
  1. Find a word that means that the prophecies came to pass or happened. [Fulfilled]
  2. Is the melody of the second phrase the same or different as the first [Same]
  3. Find two words that describe how Jesus looked. [White-robed, glorified] Point out the analogy of the notes going down that’s similar to how Jesus same down to earth: “as he came down from heaven…”
Verse Two:
  1. Jesus Christ appeared to the Nephites on the American continent.  What is another name in this song for the American continent? [Promised Land]
  2. What did the righteous people see? [His wounds]
  3. What did they come to understand? [That He was risen]
  4. What are three other names for Jesus Christ? [Savior, Lord and King]
  5. The Nephites rejoiced.  Now who else rejoices? [We rejoice]

Great job!  Those were some hard questions!  How many times did you watch the video in order to answer everything correctly?

By now, you should be very familiar with this beautiful primary song that talks all about the Savior visiting America after He was resurrected!

I know that Jesus Christ did appear to the Nephites after his crucifixion and you can read more about it in the Book of Mormon if you like!

If your family owns handbells, you can now play Easter Hosanna using my video below!  You can find out more about purchasing handbells HERE.

I’d love it if you’d like and subscribe to my YouTube channel HERE!

A few tips on using my Easter Hosanna handbell chart:

  • The handbells needed to play this chart are: A  C  D  E  F  G
  • The red AND white bells (if you have the white bell) can both play all the red C notes.
  • When 3 notes are in the same box, they are to be played at the same time as a chord.  I will lay my pointing stick across all 3 indicating that all 3 should be played together.

You can also download my chart at my Resource Library.  Instructions for accessing my Resource Library are found at the bottom of this post.
