How to Sing More Primary Songs at Home!

This is how my family has been able to sing primary songs at home for over 10 years!  And with singing time now being done at home, it’s been even more imperative that I keep this up!  No one’s quite sure when singing time will resume at church so in the meantime, why not utilize this time you have with your family and sing primary songs together?

How to sing more primary songs at home

With it being a 5th Sunday this week, I didn’t know what to share as far as a home centered singing time lesson goes.  So I thought it would be appropriate to share how my family uses my music bag at home!  That’s what we’ll be doing this Sunday!

If you follow my website, it will come as no surprise as to how and what my family does to sing primary songs at home!  It’s my music tried-and-true, put-to-the test Music Bag!

The best thing about my bag is I use it in singing time about just as often as I use it at home!  Tons of my lesson plans I create for singing time utilize a prop or more that are found in my bag.

Now that I don’t have time to go in nursery with the block schedule changes, I gave nursery their own music bag.  The nursery leaders simply sing with the kids each week using the song list.  It’s been wonderful to have the kids prepped in such a way that they are ready for singing time when they are new Sunbeams!

So whether you are at home or at church this is a great method for utilizing all that extra Sunday energy!  (Tell me I’m not the only one whose kids go crazy on  Sunday afternoons!) They march, jump, stop and wiggle to multiple primary songs!  A total win-win in my book!

I put together a little video that demonstrates my family using the props and actions found in my music bag.  Yes, I have quite a few kids (6).   And yes, they are a rowdy bunch!  The original video was over 20 minutes because my 3-year old kept begging to repeat each song over and over again!  I was more than happy to oblige :).  But I didn’t want you to have to watch it all over and over again – you’re welcome!

I’d love it if you’d like and subscribe to my YouTube channel HERE!

If you notice, I’m not a great pianist but I do what I can ;).  If you don’t have a piano or a piano player in your home, just play the primary songs from your phone using primary songs HERE or without any accompaniment!  That’s how I’ve done it in nursery for years and it works great!

**I found a small typo on my video…ugh!  But I don’t want to go back to edit it and re-upload it so hopefully you missed it!

Questions?

I have a post I wrote HERE that goes into all the detail about creating your own or purchasing one.  The direct link to purchase a bag from my shop is HERE if that’s helpful.

If you are feeling like you want to somehow magnify your calling at this time, but don’t know how, and don’t want to put together a virtual singing time (me neither!), I would HIGHLY suggest you get yourself a music bag.  Either put it together yourself or purchase one.  Either way, you won’t regret it!
