I tweaked my singing time lesson plan for I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus to cater it to be home centered! Now you can teach this song at home OR in singing time! And with this week’s Come Follow Me focus being on Christ visiting the Americas, it’s a wonderful song to focus your attention on!

You can find my original singing time lesson plan for this song HERE. And if I’m being totally honest, either lesson plan will work at home and at church!
All I basically did was take all the images for my original singing time lesson plan and put them on one page. Now each child in your family (or primary!) can have their own page:

You can access my printable at my Resource Library. Instructions for accessing my Resource Library are found at the bottom of this post.
Have the children cut out the images as they listen to I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus either on the Sing-Along App on your phone, or on the church’s website HERE. You can also share the YouTube video here:
Then play the song again and have them put the images in order as they hear them. Then listen to the song yet AGAIN to have them check their work. Find anything to correct and listen AGAIN!
Here are a few more ideas:
- Race against the other players. The first one to finish gets to go and do something that Jesus would do (serve someone somehow).
- Cut out 2 sets of images, glue them to square pieces of card stock (so they aren’t see-through and are the same size) and cut out to create a memory game. Play memory while listening to the song. The winner gets to again go and do something that Jesus would do.
