Teaching The Wise Man and the Foolish Man at home or in singing time pairs perfectly with this week’s Come Follow Me lesson. It compares building your house on rock vs. sand!

The scripture reference is 3rd Nephi 14:24 – 27. It states:
24 Therefore, whoso heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a arock—
25 And the arain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it bfell not, for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them not shall be likened unto a afoolish man, who built his house upon the bsand—
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of it.
Pretty much word-for-word from the song ;). Since most kids know The Wise Man and the Foolish Man, sing it through using actions. Sing along using the church’s Sing Along app on your phone or on the church’s website HERE.
It’s also fun to repeat while gradually removing the words that have actions and doing only the actions.
When you finish, use this fun little house demonstration HERE created by Susan Fitch! You’ll really wow your kids if you set it up without them seeing how you do it!

Sing the song as each child gets a turn blowing the houses down! Discuss which home owner was wise and which was foolish.
