This week in Come Follow Me we learned about calling Christ’s church after His name.  It’s not surprising the primary song The Church of Jesus Christ is suggested to sing this month, as it pairs perfectly with the suggested reading!

Camille's Primary Ideas: The Church of Jesus Christ Singing Time Idea

I have taught The Church of Jesus Christ several times over the years!  My favorite is a scavenger hunt style lesson plan where you hide images throughout the building.  More details can be found HERE

If you want to do this lesson plan at home, it’s fun simply to put the images in order as you sing the song.

With most of us still not back to regular singing time, I thought it fun to hang the various images around your church building and grounds.  Families can come to the building on their own time on Sunday to do the scavenger hunt (or whenever you decide to do it).

Begin at the front door of your building (or where most people enter).  I suggest having copies of this worksheet available (place in a manilla file folder and tape to the door) along with a jar of pencils:

Or I also have 2 copies per page to save on printing if that helps:

You can access my printables at my Resource Library.  Instructions for accessing my Resource Library are found at the bottom of this post.

Then hang the 9 corresponding flip chart pages found on Susan Fitch’s website HERE anywhere you like on the church grounds (maybe in a sheet protector):

Hang flip chart pages

Here are a few ideas of where to hang flip chart pages:

  • Church window
  • Church name plaque
  • Dumpster
  • Handicap parking sign
  • Lightpost
  • Trees
  • Bushes
  • Fence

Any other suggestions?  If so, leave a comment!

Optionally, have children bring their finished pages to your home (or find a spot at the church where they started) with a reward/prize/treat basket that they can grab and go.

Something new and kind of fun to get the kids outdoors in this gorgeous weather while learning a primary song!  A total win in my book!!

All my printables are free and can be downloaded from my Resource Library.  Access to my Resource Library is sent to you via email and not linked here.  If you need initial access to my Resource Library or need access sent to you again, click on the button below, fill out your information then check your email.  Instructions for accessing each printable on my Resource Library are below the button.  Check out my email tutorial HERE for more help.

These printables are filed on my Resource Library page under Song Title > The Church of Jesus Christ.
