I LOVE using simplified ASL to teach primary songs!  When you teach the primary song, Jesus Said Love Everyone I definitely suggest using simplified ASL.  The signs help convey the simple message of the song.

If you have never taught ASL in singing time, never fear!  It’s actually pretty simple once you’ve learned the signs yourself ;).  However, I suggest reading my Teach a Song Using ASL post HERE if you want a couple pointers!

Camille's Primary Ideas: Teach a Song using ASL, Signing in Singing Time Tips

To teach Jesus Said Love Everyone using ASL, I found this fantastic post HERE.  It even includes a quick demonstration video of the signs.  I also typed up notes (sorry if they make no sense to no one else but me!)

You can access my printables at my Resource Library.  Instructions for accessing my Resource Library are found at the bottom of this post.

UPDATE:  Holly from primarychoristers.com created a video for this song!  Check out more details HERE. If you use Holly’s videos, just note that my typed up actions are a little different as they relate to the video linked here.

When introducing a song using ASL I begin by signing the entire song.  I usually play the song using the Sing Along App and speakers but you can also use music from the church’s website HERE or the piano with words posted like it do HERE.

Camille's Primary Ideas: Help children and teacher sing by posting the words in singing time during your lesson plan

Then I like to teach each of the signs to the children, gradually adding on each sign and singing the song.  Eventually learning the entire song with the signs.  Once we’ve sung the entire song a few times, I like to pull out scarves!  They add a really fun dynamic!

Camille's Primary Ideas: Using Scarves for Movement

I bought mine from Amazon.  Check out my shop HERE for the link!

Additional Movement

Try passing around a heart of some sort (a heart-shaped bean bag or pillow).  Sing the song as the heart is passed, showing love to everyone.  Perfect for nursery!!

Don’t you just love the image cover to this post?  I found that HERE in case you are wondering.  It might be fun to print and post on the bulletin board to go along with the song as you are teaching it.  I’ve also got it available in my Resource Library.
