One of May 2021’s suggested songs is the hymn, Choose the Right.  I noticed in this month’s Friend magazine, there’s a new song entitled My Power to Choose.  This might be a fun song to substitute or use in conjunction with Choose the Right.  But I also have ideas linked below for teaching Choose the Right if you prefer.

My Power to Choose can be found in the Friend HERE.  Then there is also a new sing along video for this song on the church’s website HERE!

Activity

As an attention getter, I suggest using the “choice” activities found with my Choose the Right lesson linked below.

Then I suggest teaching My Power to Choose with a fun CHOOSING activity!  Post the words with several key words missing.  I created this document here:

Access my printables at my Resource Library.  Instructions for accessing my Resource Library are found at the bottom of this post.

Post the document with several keywords missing.  Then add the first page of right and wrong words/pictures to choose from for the first blank.  Let children choose which word they think is correct.  Sing each phrase (it might be fun to sing the incorrect words as well!).  These are 2 sample pages:

This is also available in my Resource Library.

Bear testimony that agency is a wonderful gift we’ve been given but we must use it to choose the right.

Choose the Right

If you want to teach Choose the Right this week, check out my post HERE.

To teach Choose the Right in a home centered singing time, I suggest having families make a CTR shield stick then discuss the listed scenarios.  Children can raise their sticks when they hear a situation where you choose the right:

Then listen to the YouTube video for Choose the Right and have them raise their CTR sticks in the air when the phrase “choose the right” is sung:

Make sure to check out all my posts for music for singing time 2021 HERE.
