If you are looking for a simple song that relates to The Doctrine & Covenants, Sherri shared with me a song she wrote appropriately entitled, The Doctrine and Covenants.

Here’s what Sherri shared with me:
… I noticed there wasn’t really a song about the Doctrine and Covenants–so I was inspired one morning to write one. I woke with these words and music running through my mind.I’ve sent it to the Church Music Committee and the Friend. My Bishop has approved it for our children to sing in our ward. They love it. I thought I’d share it with you … to remind the children in our ward of the importance of the Doctrine and Covenants.
These are the words:When we read the Doctrine and Covenants, we hear the voice of Christ. We learn of His gospel truths restored–how His church should be organized. The doctrines and covenants help us prepare for the time He will come again. Its words of wisdom urge us to live clean lives and to follow Him.
I really appreciate the simplicity of the song in both the lyrics and the accompaniment.
So if you are looking for something new to add to your primary program this fall, you might want to consider Sherri’s song, The Doctrine and Covenants. Just make sure to get it approved with your bishop since it hasn’t been published by the church yet.
You can download the music in my Resource Library. Instructions for accessing my Resource Library are found at the bottom of this post.
Flip Chart
I created a simple flip chart to help you teach this song if you need. It’s also available to download in my Resource Library.

That is an amazing and beautiful D&C song! I hope it gets put in the new Children’s Songbook!
I totally agree :).

We are singing it this Sunday in our program. Our kids love it.
That’s great to hear! The author of the song will be happy to know!
