In case you haven’t heard, we’re studying The Old Testament for Come Follow Me in 2022.  Our primary will be is learning The Books in the Old Testament using my interactive bookshelf!  We sing this song during transition time, right before opening exercises.

Find more details HERE on how I break down singing time.  I also have a post HERE that goes into more detail on how I schedule my months if that helps.

I LOVE hanging a poster in the primary room with all the books we’re studying for the year!  They are so fun when the kids can interact with them too!

HERE is the image I used for the bookshelf.  Then I created removable books (or not).

So now you have the option to gradually empty and/or fill the bookshelf if you like!

Files are available at my Resource Library.  Access my Resource Library by using the button at the bottom of the post.

The books can be added and removed as the song is learned!  Remove one book every week as you gradually learn the song, or remove a cluster every month.

A fun idea is to pass out a book to reverent children and have them place them in order as the song is sung.

This poster doubles as a great bulletin board in the primary room too!

I have a few options for printing.  The poster prints as a 20×30 poster/picture (perfect for Costco):

  • A filled-in bookshelf for JPEG or PDF.  I’ve also got a print-at-home tiled version that prints on 9 pages.
  • An empty bookshelf for JPEG or for PDF.  I’ve also got a print-at-home tiled version that prints on 9 pages.
  • PDF removable book documents.  These print as 8.5×11 documents.  Cut out each book.  I recommend printing on white card stock and laminating!
  • JPEG removable book documents.  They are still sized as 8.5×11 but you can easily crop them to fit to be an 8×12 photo.
Attach the books using magnets, blue painters tape or velcro dots.  I don’t recommend the plasty tac as it leaves a residue on the poster.

If you find any mistakes, PLEASE let me know!!  I’ve got my finished product HERE if you are interested!

  1. The file that allows you to print on 8.5×11 paper, isn’t 9 pages – it’s 16. This makes the bookshelf much bigger than the books. Can you make the jpg version of the books available so that the books can be printed to scale with the bookshelf. Thanks for all your great ideas!

    1. Hi Melissa!

You are totally right! Thank you for catching my error, ugh! I just corrected it to print on 9 pages. I also added a JPEG version of the books – great suggestion. I really appreciate you letting me know!
