The Friend has done it again with another great activity that can easily be modified to create a singing time lesson plan for Christmas! I LOVE the activity entitled When Jesus Was Born found in the December 2021 Friend magazine!
The article, When Jesus Was Born is found in the December 2021 issue of The Friend HERE. The activity is simple:
Cut out the pictures and use them to tell the story.
And with each story, insert a primary Christmas song! Easy!! You can use your own nativity set, or print and cut out the pages from the article. I don’t know what my problem is but I can NEVER get these double page layouts to print correctly (tell me I’m not alone!). So I created a document that prints on 2 pages:

Songs to Sing
Here are the suggested songs you sing with each nativity picture:
- Jesus Christ – Who is the Child? p. 46 or Away in a Manger p. 42
- New Star – Stars Were Gleaming p. 37 or There Was Starlight on the Hillside p. 40
- Mary & Joseph – When Joseph Went to Bethlehem p. 38
- Shepherds – The Shepherd’s Carol p. 40
- Wise Men – The Nativity Song (4th verse) p. 52
You can also sing all the verses to The Nativity Song as you complete this activity as well! Simply sing the parts of the song that coincide with the nativity pieces.
