I’m so happy to see I Will Walk with Jesus in this year’s Come Follow Me singing time curriculum! It’s such a beautiful song! I have several ideas linked below to help you teach it in singing time!

Simplified ASL
My ABSOLUTE favorite recommendation for teaching I Will Walk with Jesus is using this ASL. I especially love the visual it creates for the lines in the song that say, “I will walk with Jesus, and He will walk with me.” Check out more details HERE.

Merry Bells
Merry Bells has a completely FREE digital download for this song! If you own a set of handbells, try this bell chart in singing time!
Use Straws
Now, this idea is CLEVER! I wish I was more clever! Luckily, there are others out there who share that talent! It utilizes straws … kind of similar to I’ll Walk with You that uses spoons HERE. Watch the video here with details:
Build a Body
Here’s another very CLEVER idea shared HERE on the PML FB group. If you’re not on FB, here are the details along with the photo:
We are building a simple body learning the first verse of “I Will Walk With Jesus.” The words coordinate so well with the body parts that I had to share!-Jesus walked in wisdom (head = knowledge)-Jesus grew in truth (grow spiritually, just like we physically grow taller)-He showed love to God and man while in his youth (love = use arms to hug)-Jesus wants to guide me (follow with legs)-Jesus shows the way (He steps first and we follow)-Calling me to come and walk with him each day (feet = walk)

I LOVE this. Thank you so much for sharing such a sweet video! I’ll definitely review this song with the primary (using spoons since we already have those)! We first learned this song by walking on footprints around the room while the children listened and sang what they knew to the song. They heard the song on repeat and learned it quick, even while walking around! But each time the pianist stopped the music, I would pick a color and the children on that color would tell us how they can be like Jesus. 🙂
Hi Amy!
Love your ideas – thanks for sharing!
