Check out these Teach Me to Walk in the Light singing time ideas. My favorite is using foot steps that lead up to a picture of Christ. But no matter what method you decide to use, choose an idea that best fits your Primary’s needs.

Footsteps
This lesson plan takes the repeated phrase “teach me” and puts it on footsteps. A great way to demonstrate repetition! My post HERE uses images from the Gospel Art Book interspersed with the “teach me” footsteps. Simple yet effective – my favorite!!
Simplified ASL
There’s some simplified ASL for teaching Teach Me to Walk in the Light here. Although, I don’t know why the voices are all high pitch in the video!
Finger Lights
Take the ASL actions one step further and add finger lights! Since the song talks all about light! Once the actions are learned, turn off the overhead lights and do the signing in the dark using only finger lights!
Check out my post HERE for more details on using and purchasing finger lights.

Teach Me to Walk in the Light History
This information comes from Stories from The Children’s Songbook by Sister Pat Graham (more information on that book HERE).
Clara Watkins McMaster [the composer] was assigned to compose a song for the Primary choir to sing at the April 1958 General Conference. She said, “The scriptures are filled with this great important message—`walk in the light’—and I have often gone to the scriptures for guidance and direction in my assignments.”
