This singing time lesson plan for I Want to Live the Gospel helps define what living the gospel looks like. It utilizes the church’s Gospel Art Book images and a simple word scramble! Your primary will leave wanting to live the gospel and knowing how!!

One of my favorite talks is from Lawrence E. Corbridge entitled The Way. In his 2008 General Conference talk HERE he shared:
The Lord’s way is not hard. Life is hard, not the gospel. “There is an opposition in all things,”21 everywhere, for everyone. Life is hard for all of us, but life is also simple. We have only two choices.22 We can either follow the Lord and be endowed with His power and have peace, light, strength, knowledge, confidence, love, and joy, or we can go some other way, any other way, whatever other way, and go it alone—without His support, without His power, without guidance, in darkness, turmoil, doubt, grief, and despair. And I ask, which way is easier?
He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; … and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”23
Life is hard, but life is simple. Get on the path and never, ever give up. You never give up. You just keep on going. You don’t quit, and you will make it.
There is only one way to happiness and fulfillment. Jesus Christ is the Way. Every other way, any other way, whatever other way is foolishness.
What better way to teach about living the simpleness of the gospel than with Gospel Art Book images that portray living the gospel!

Singing Time Idea
Before primary, place the letters on the board using magnets so they read SLOPEG. Also place these Gospel Art Book images around the primary room:
- Family Prayer p. 112 or download HERE
- Passing the Sacrament p. 108 or download HERE
- Service p. 115 or download HERE
- Baptism p. 103 (boy) or 104 (girl) or download HERE or HERE
- The Gift of the Holy Ghost p. 105 or download HERE
- Tithing p. 113 and 114 HERE and HERE
Ask the primary if they know what SLOPEG means? If the letters are rearranged, a really important word can be spelled.
You and the teachers sing the song, post the words as needed like I do HERE.

See if the children can discover that word. Then continue to sing until the word is discovered. When it is, rearrange the letters to read GOSPEL.
You and the teachers sing the song again. Have children stand and do “the wave” motion with 2 hands in the air every time the word “live” is sung.
Optionally, pass out a wand to each child to stand and wave with. Find more details about wands HERE.

Discuss ways the children can live the gospel. Tell them to look around the room for ideas.
Sing the song in between 1 or 2 suggestions given, while still standing and waving on “live.” Once the pictures are chosen and discussed, place them on the board. The children can also give other ideas not pictured and write them on the board.
Bear Testimony
Bear testimony that we are blessed for trying to live the gospel each day.
I Can Play It

A simplified arrangement isin the Friend in May 2022. Find more details HERE for utilizing it in your primary.
