Let Us Oft Speak Kind Words Singing Time Idea
Tell the Primary that there is a hymn that says we should do something often. You and the teachers sing the hymn.
Have the children listen for what we should often do [speak kind words]. Then ask children to think of a kind word or phrase they could say to someone.
Kind Word Examples Include:
- Please
- Thank you
- You’re welcome
- I love you
- You make me smile
- You’re nice
- I believe in you
- You’re beautiful
- That is kind
- You are special
- You’re my friend
- Excuse me
- Sorry
- I forgive you
- You can do it
- I trust you
- You are smart
- I have fun with you
- You are brave
- Good job
- I knew you could
- That was helpful
- A good listener
- My fault
- Forgive me
Pass out a bubble and writing utensils to each child. Have them write that word or phrase on their bubble. Have teachers and Presidency members assist with those who may need help.
As children are writing their word or phrase, you and the teachers sing the song again. Once everyone has their bubble completed, sing the first phrase of the song.
Then ask a few children (or one class) to come to the front and read their kind word or phrase. Hang the bubbles on the board using tape.
Repeat with the next phrase and a few more children. Keep repeating until all the phrases have been sung and each child’s kind word or phrase has been read and hung on the board.
Bear Testimony
Bear testimony that Jesus was the best example of kindness. We should always try to be like Jesus by using kind words.
