I love to take the last week in March to prep my primary kids for General Conference! Easily incorporate these General Conference singing time lesson ideas into your primary! Then enjoy a weekend off from teaching … you deserve it!

Latter-day Prophet Actions
My all-time favorite primary song to teach this time of year is Latter-day Prophets! You just can’t beat the interactive actions that also tell a little bit about each prophet. Check out my post HERE with more details including all the actions!

Living Prophets Song
Once we’ve learned all about past prophets, it’s time to move on to the current ones! This song is ever-changing so it’s always a fun challenge!
The Living Prophets Song is set to the tune of The Books in the Book of Mormon. You can find all the details HERE.

General Conference Video Demonstration
Check out my General Conference singing time video demonstration video here:
You can also find this video on my YouTube channel HERE. I’d love it if you’d like and subscribe!
Singo
It’s also fun to pass out these General Conference “singo” sheets to play as you sing the Living Prophets Song. More details HERE.
Or simply send them home along with m&m’s. Playing is easy! Cover the speaker on the sheet when they speak in General Conference. After General Conference is over, eat the candy!

General Conference Singing Time Challenge
Bruce shared on the PML FB group HERE that he likes to:
Give them [the primary children] the assignment to make a careful list of all the Primary songs that get sung in conference – and for bonus points, any hymns they’ve learned for the annual Primary program. During the first singing time after conference, go over the list and see how many children heard them all. And then sing some of them.
Someone also commented to also list any primary songs mentioned during the talks given at General Conference.
Such a simple way to get children listening!!
GC Challenge Printable
Heather took the challenge one more step and created this printable:

Download Heather’s printable HERE. Or it’s also available in my Resource Library. Access my printables at my Resource Library. Instructions for accessing my Resource Library are found at the bottom of this post.
Susan Fitch

Susan Fitch’s activities may be fun just to send home with your primary to help them engage with General Conference!
Coloring Books
If your primary handed out coloring books at Christmas (like mine did HERE), this is a great time to remind kids to pull them out to color as they listen to General Conference!

Coloring Pages
The church also has these coloring pages of all the prophets and apostles. Make sure to share these with your primary as well for another General Conference activity! More details can be found HERE.

March 2022 Friend
The March 2022 Friend magazine also has some fun General Conference activities HERE.
Hopefully there are enough suggestions here for you to create a General Conference themed singing time! Help your primary kids prepare to listen to our church leaders during General Conference!
These printables are filed on my Resource Library page under Category Title > General Conference.

I love to do a General Conference prep singing time! We always sing the living apostles song–I put up their photos with names labelled, then throughout the lesson we pull down a few names at a time until we are singing the names with no hints.
Last fall we also focused in on recent teachings from our living prophet, in addition to singing the living prophets song throughout the lesson. I had a quote from his talks at each of the conferences going back to 2018, and then we sang a song related to that theme. I am planning to do the same thing again, adding in his most recent talk about temples. It is pretty easy to find songs that fit each of his talk themes.
For example:
The Correct Name of the Church—October 2018
“Jesus Christ directed us to call the Church by His name because it is His Church, filled with His power”.
SING The Church of Jesus Christ, p. 77
The Second Great Commandment—October 2019
“Living that second great commandment is the key to becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ”.
“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” (Matt 22:37-40)
SING Love One Another, p. 136
Hi Kristi!
I love having all the pictures up then removing them – makes WAY more sense then what I have! I’m going to follow your lead! Thanks for sharing your ideas!
