Inspiration for this activity came from Sadie on the PML FB group.  Although, I have significantly modified it from its original version.

Lost Leprechauns Printable

For this activity, you need some lost leprechauns.  I created this printable here:

Lost Sheep Printable

If you would rather not pull St. Patrick’s Day into singing time, these lost sheep are available as well:

These are also available at my Resource Library.

Depending on the size of your Primary, print 2 copies of the leprechauns or the sheep.  Adding more simply gives more children an opportunity to find them during the activity.

So choose your printable and quantity, print on card stock, cut out and laminate (optional).

Songs To Sing

Sing any songs with this lost leprechaun activity!  A few suggestions include:

St. Patrick's Day Singing Time Idea

Pick a child (or a few children for larger primaries) to go out into the hall.  Have the rest of the Primary help hide the 6-12 leprechauns or sheep in plain sight (meaning they can’t be hiding underneath something and must be visible).  Ideas include:

  • Clock
  • Piano
  • Back of a chair
  • Whiteboard
  • Window
  • Floor
  • Podium
  • Table top
  • Wall
  • Top of teacher’s head
  • etc.

Use tape as needed to help hide items.

Have the child(ren) in the hall come back in.  The Primary sings as the child(ren) search for all the lost leprechauns/sheep.  Post words using this flip chart format as needed.

See how many leprechauns or sheep they can find before the song is finished.  Repeat with new children, new hiding places and new songs.

Bear Testimony

Bear testimony that Jesus Christ loves all who may be lost and will always welcome them back with loving arms when they are found.

      1. You are such a blessing! Thank you for your testimony and all the primary singing time resources you have made available!

  1. For Senior Primary, I need to give them more of a difficult task or make it a bit harder than just gathering up the leprechauns. Any ideas? I was thinking of tying two of the primary kids together to gather them up or ??

    1. Hi Julie!

Your idea of tying 2 kids together sounds really fun! If you want to keep it simple, just hide the pictures in really hard places making sure that they are out of sight. Maybe behind a picture or the clock, under the piano, taped to the bottom of chairs, etc. Make them really work hard to gather them ;). I hope that helps!
