This colorful Do As I’m Doing Dice will keep your primary engaged while singing during transition time, extra singing time, or any other time during primary, nursery or even school and pre-school! Simply roll a color, pick the coordinating card then do the action on the card.

I attended my sister’s ward several weeks ago. The primary music leader in her ward pulled out this activity during transition time. It was a HUGE hit while the primary waited for primary to begin! So I thought I would replicate it and share it here.
TIP: If you’re too busy to do an activity during transition time, have 2 Sr. primary children head it up for you without the accompaniment.
They will LOVE being your helper!! And you’ll LOVE having an engaged primary while they wait!

You will need this foam dice with 6 different colored sides (Amazon affiliate link):
The reviews on this product indicate that the clear pockets rip easily but that doesn’t matter. You aren’t using them with this activity anyway.

Then I put together this list of 48 Do As I’m Doing actions to be used in conjunction with the foam dice:

Action Cards
The 48 actions are on 12 pages of action cards, 4 per page. 2 sets of action cards are available. One set is black and white:
Access my printables at my Resource Library. Instructions for accessing my Resource Library are found at the bottom of this post.
Print the black and white option on 12 sheets of colored card stock in the following 6 colors (so 2 pages of each color):
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Green
- Blue
- Purple
Then laminate and cut out.
The other set option is colored:

Print this set on white card stock, laminate and cut out.
Singing Time Activity
For the activity, place all the cards in piles based on their color (6 piles) on a table. If you printed your action cards on colored card stock, stack them face down. If you printed your action cards on white card stock, stack them face up so the various colors can be seen.
Choose a child to come roll the dice. Whatever color is rolled is the color of the action card the child must choose. Read the action on the action card then do that action as you sing Do As I’m Doing.
Repeat with a new child and actions.
