Called to Serve Suite Case
The original idea for this singing time activity is from HERE. I added some simple printables and suite case items for the 2nd verse.
So, find a suite case, duffle bag or backpack and gather these supplies to put into it:
1st verse:
- Large envelope with “MISSION CALL” written on the front: Called to serve him Heavenly King of Glory
- Missionary tag: Chosen E’re to witness for His name
Print your own missionary tag if you don’t have an original one to use. Then pin it on using a wooden clothespin:

I recommend printing on card stock, cutting out and laminating.
- Book of Mormon (in various languages if possible): Far and wide we tell the father’s story
- Map of the world or blow up globe: Far and wide his love proclaim
I recommend this blow up globe to use: (Amazon affiliate link):
Or use this world map printable:

Print on card stock and laminate.
Chorus:
- Pair of shoes: Onward, ever onward, as we glory in his name; onward, ever onward, as we glory in his name;
- Trophy or award: Forward, pressing forward, as a triumph song we sing.
- Small dumbbell or weight: God our strength will be; press forward ever, called to serve our King
2nd verse:
- Dollar bill (the bigger the bill the better!): Called to know the richness of his blessing
- Family picture: Sons and daughters, children of a King
Use your own family picture or this one from Susan Fitch:

- Heart: Glad of heart, his holy name confessing
Find a heart-shaped something (I have a heart-shaped bean bag) or use this printable:

- Small tree branch: Praises unto him we bring
Attach Phrases
Once you have all your items, attach the associated phrase to it’s corresponding suit case item:

Print, cut apart then attach to corresponding items. The phrases are numbered so you know what item comes next when you pull it out of the suit case. You’re welcome ;).
Completed Suit Case
This is how my suit case came together:

Singing Time Idea
To introduce Called to Serve, have you and the teachers sing it. Post words as needed like I do HERE.

As you sing, quickly pull out each item in order in the suit case. Place all the items back inside afterward. Then, gradually pull out each item in order again as you sing the attached phrase. Gradually add on. Have children come hold the items, or place them on a table as they are learned.
Time permitting, once all the items have been pulled out of the suit case, gradually remove the attached phrases. Then gradually place the items back inside the suit case.
Bear Testimony
Bear testimony that you know the importance of serving the Lord. We are called to serve Heavenly Father by being a witness to His name.
Called to Serve Variations
- As you and the primary teachers sing the song, pull out each item from the suit case and place it on the table. When the song is over, put the items back in and see what items they remember seeing. Repeat as you sing the song again until all the items have been remembered.
- Pull out the items as you and the teachers sing the song. Have the primary help you put the items in order. Repeat until all the items are in order.
These printables are filed on my Resource Library page under Song Title > Called to Serve.
