The December 2023 Friend magazine features Silent Night simplified sheet music in the I Can Play It series. There are SO many uses for these simplified arrangements! Make sure you utilize them this Christmas in your Primary!
I LOVE finding music-related content in the Friend! I feel it validates the importance of singing time – weird, I know. But I love it nonetheless!
There are SO uses for these simplified Primary song arrangements! And not to mention simplified CHRISTMAS music! These are perfect for children and adults to incorporate more Christmas music into their everyday lives!
Practice on the Piano
If you have Primary children learning to play the piano, playing these simplified piano songs is a wonderful way to reinforce gospel messages at home! Especially if the music in The Children’s Songbook is currently too difficult for them.
During the holidays (around Halloween), my own kids always play a Christmas Primary song or hymn as part of their daily piano practice material at home.
Beginner Primary Pianist
What about your Primary pianist? Is he/she a beginner? Do them a favor and pass along these simplified arrangements to them! In fact, you will do both of you a favor! The Primary has an easier time following along if your pianist can more easily play the music.
My mom is currently the Primary pianist in her ward. She thanked me when I showed them to her as they are right at her playing level.
Play in Sacrament Meeting
Maybe some of your Primary children play a musical instrument that can be played in sacrament meeting. Have Primary children share their talent on Christmas Sunday in sacrament meeting. Or even your ward Christmas party.
Our ward this year is having a ward talent show. A few Primary children will be playing the piano using simplified Christmas music!
Play in Primary
How fun would it be to have a Primary child play Silent Night during transition time in Primary? Or any time during Primary for that matter!
