There was a need for a Book of Mormon Easter song, and Vanja Yorgason Watkins was asked to write and submit an idea to the Friend.
…The resulting song about Christ’s appearance to the Nephites was published in the Friend, Apr. 1982.
The index of authors and composers shows her to have credit lines on twenty- seven songs.
Easter Hosanna Lyrics & Music
Find the sheet music to Easter Hosanna on the Church’s website. The lyrics describe the events that transpired when Jesus Christ visited the Americas after his death and resurrection:
The prophecies of long ago were now at last fulfilled, When Jesus, risen from the dead, to man Himself revealed. As he came down from heav’n above, white-robed and glorified, The people of the promised land received their Lord and cried:
[Chorus] “Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God! Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God!”
When Jesus Christ appeared to Nephites in the promised land, The righteous people saw his wounds and came to understand That he, once dead, was risen up as Savior, Lord, and King. As they rejoiced, now we rejoice, and joyfully we sing:
