Let your Primary teach I Believe in Christ by drawing various phrases found in this hymn.  Then have them showcase their drawings to the rest of the Primary!

I’ve discovered that if I need to teach something, I’m the one who actually learns the most in the process of preparing to teach!  So why not give Primary children that same opportunity to learn by teaching!?!

TIP: When teaching hymns, I suggest only teaching the 1st verse in singing time.  If you want the other verses sung during the Primary program, have the congregation join in for the rest!

I Believe in Christ Printable

For this activity, you need enough copies of this 4-page printable so each child receives 1 of the pages.  The 4 phrases found in the 1st verse are on each page:

Pass out a page, randomly, along with a handful or markers, crayons or colored pencils to each child.  Instruct them to draw a picture of the phrase found on their paper.

Let them work on their pictures for about 5-10 minutes.  As they work, have the pianist play the song as you and the teachers sing it.  Post the words using this flip chart format as needed.

After they have finished coloring, have the children who colored the 1st phrase come to the front of the room.  Let them describe their pictures if they wish.

Have them hold up their pictures as the rest of the Primary sings that phrase.  Then hang each picture at the front of the room using tape.

Repeat with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th phrases so each child showcases their pictures to the Primary, hangs them at the front of the board and the entire song has been sung.

Then sing the entire song together.

Draw the Song Artwork

I asked my own kids at home to draw pictures of the song and they happily created some examples:
