When I taught Every Star Is Different using handbells for the obligato, it was a huge hit with my Primary! So you can be confident that these singing time ideas are tried and true, tested by yours truly! 😉
Any time a Primary song contains an additional musical part, don’t skip over it and play it on a different instrument! My favorite are handbells but any instrument will work! Like a ukulele, guitar, violin, whatever!

This information comes from Stories from The Children’s Songbook by Sister Pat Graham.
Originally, this song was composed in the style of musical theater. The ideas of several verses were compressed into a second verse for the Children’s Songbook emphasizing the importance of being who you alone can be.
In June of 1990, a newspaper article told about the graduation exercises of the Hartvigsen School for the handicapped. The young man who was president of the graduating class had chosen to use the words of the second verse as part of his talk.
The message had come full circle and was useful to those it was intended to strengthen.
Find the sheet music to Every Star Is Different on the Church’s website. I love how this song points out that it’s a blessing to be different and all differences are needed:

I don’t see the words to the song in the flip chat format.
That would be helpful. I have a very small primary, So need the teachers to help out. most of the time I have 4 non readers to 1 who can read.
