My singing time activities typically provide tons of movement in one form or another. Movement is CRITICAL for a successful singing time! And this recess singing time review provides LOTS of it!

Then make sure you have the necessary supplies to create each station.
Create recess stations around the Primary room using activities you’d find at recess. Hang the printables above the activity station to help explain it. See the variation below which is great for simplifying and also large Primaries!
Instruct the children that good singers get to go play at recess! Post the words using this flip chart format as needed.
Assign 6 children to a station. As the rest of the Primary sings, the 6 children rotate in a circle pattern through each station. Once finished singing, repeat with 6 new children and sing a new song. Repeat until each child has had a turn at each station.
Choose one of the recess stations and a song to review. Have the entire Primary participate in all the rhythm activities in place with the suggested rhythm instruments. This is great for large Primaries!

Thanks for sharing these creative activity ideas for kids! Keeping things fun and engaging is so important—but I do have some concerns, especially around safety and how we’re modeling care for the church property. Some of the suggestions, like having kids walk on folding chair seats to mimic monkey bars, raise safety red flags and may unintentionally encourage disrespect for church property. Similarly, swinging children using a towel held between two leaders could put both the kids and adults at risk of injury. Using a table as a slide also stood out to me. Not only could it damage the table, but it also teaches children that it’s okay to use furniture in ways it wasn’t meant to be used. Even using swivel chairs like a merry-go-round can be risky—kids can easily fall or push each other too hard.
I truly appreciate your effort to bring energy and creativity into Primary. I’d just recommend that safer alternatives that still capture that same spirit of fun, while modeling care and respect for our church spaces be used.

Thank you for your perspective and insight about this activity as that didn’t even cross my mind. I definitely recommend you only doing the activities that you are comfortable with or catering them to your comfort level. Each station also suggests an alternative activity, which allows children to remain in place. So if you are worried about disrespecting church property, definitely choose that option.
