The April 2026 Friend magazine features a brand NEW song, Along the Covenant Path by Jocelyn Parker Parmer! This song teaches children about starting on the covenant path through baptism and making promises with Heavenly Father.

Along the Covenant Path was first performed during the 2022 Church Music Festival. Note that this previous version is slightly different then the new publication in the April Friend magazine.
I love how the lyrics simply explain that baptism is the first step onto the covenant path:
1. One day I’ll be baptized, and I’m happy as can be. I want to follow Jesus and feel God’s love for me. I know when I’m baptized, I will promise to be true: To choose the right and share His light until my journey’s through.
Chorus: Baptism is the first step along the cov’nant path That leads to Heavenly Father and all the Father hath. I’ll take upon me the name of Christ, I’ll follow in His way, By keeping His commandments as I go throughout each day.
2. When I am baptized, I will join the Father’s fold. This special cov’nant I’ll make with promises to hold. I will be happy as I feel my faith increase. By serving others willingly, I’ll know the Savior’s peace.

3. After I’m baptized, I will heed the still, small voice. The Holy Ghost will help me to make a better choice. When I’m not perfect, I know I can repent; With faith in Christ’s Atonement, I’ll take the sacrament.

There are no words for this video for Along the Covenant Path. However, it’s a great way for you to easily become more familiar with it or to show to your Primary during singing time.

Place the flip chart pages out of order around the room.
Create some sort of path down the middle of the Primary room with chairs on either side. Some ideas include:
As you sing the song, have children find the pages in the flip chart and place them in order along the path. Once pages are down, correct their answers and adjust as needed.
