All you need to bring Let the Holy Spirit Guide to life in singing time is a simple rope! Create a “rope path” for the children to follow as they sing, guiding them step-by-step. It turns this beautiful hymn into an experience they’ll remember!
I love to bring in a wide variety of activities into singing time! And I can guarantee most Primary children have never done a ropes course during singing time! So they’re sure to remember this activity in addition to the hymn!
Provide a rope long enough for several of the children to hold on to (for larger Primaries, provide multiple ropes). You can also use a long extension cord or anything else around your home that may work.

Explain that this rope is like the Holy Spirit. Just like holding onto the rope helps us know which way to go, the Holy Spirit helps guide us and teach us what is true.
If using variation 1, as you and the teachers sing, have children close their eyes (optional) as you or a teacher shakes and moves the rope. Allow children to feel and mimic the movement of the rope. Post the words using this flip chart format as needed.
If using variation 2, blindfold several children and allow them to walk along the course blindfolded as the rest of the Primary sings. Allow each child to have a chance to walk the course.
Repeat until all children have had a turn with the rope.
