This Welcome Home travelogue Primary singing time activity allows children to “travel” from destination to destination while rhythmically moving to the hymn as they sing.
For this activity, you only need 4 simple pictures and 4 rhythm instruments. It’s easy to throw together while still teaching the gospel principles taught in the song! A total win-win!

Then you need 4 rhythm instruments. Anything works well, but I recommend the following:
Before Primary, place the 4 images around the room with rhythm instruments (or similar) sitting on the floor underneath in a box or bag as follows:
Allow the children to “travel” together to each page beginning with the chorus/Savior image.
TIP: For large Primaries, have children remain in place and simply turn in that direction.
Post the words using this flip chart format as needed.
Have the children gather at the front of the room under the image of the Savior with the ribbon wands close by. You and the teachers sing the chorus as the children move the wands to how the music makes them feel.
Repeat again, encouraging the children to sing along.
Continue traveling to each page until you’ve traveled and sung each verse and chorus multiple times. Allowing children to move to the song using each different rhythm instrument.
Time permitting, sing the entire song through, traveling to each destination as each part of the song is sung.
Bear testimony that because of Jesus Christ, we are never far from home.
